Project Description

The project at Karl Johans gate 17 involves the refurbishment of an existing building dating from 1892. There are two basement floor levels and six storeys above steet level. The building will be retrofitted for new offices from plan 3 to 6 with retail floors at plan 1 and 2. The architectural project requires the existing stairs and lifts to be relocated. The original roof and Plan 6 street façade are to be demolished and rebuilt.

The existing construction is a combinationation of load bearing brickwork, steel columns and beams and concrete floor slabs. There is one original timber floor at DO1. The project requires demolition work, strengthening of parts of the existing structure and the addition of new structural elements.
