The footbridge forms part of the Rehabilitation of the Alfonso XIII Bridge and upgrading of the CV-509 cycle–pedestrian route (Fortaleny–Sueca, Phase 2) and is located at the intersection of the A-38 motorway and the CV-509, in the vicinity of the River Júcar. The main span is 57.8 m long, made of steel, suspended by hangers from 2 inclined and braced arches type bow-string. It is complemented by two curved access ramps with an elliptical plan geometry, each comprising four spans. The shorter spans are resolved using lateral box girders and a stiffened steel deck plate, ensuring continuity of the deck.
The bearing arrangement was optimised to improve performance under wind loading and to reuse the existing foundations. The construction process included assembly of the arch in a nearby yard and its final lifting into position over the roundabout using two high-capacity cranes, minimising disruption to traffic and the surrounding area.
Site survey and control for the client/authority. Structural engineering during detailed design and construction, including optimisation of details and bearing system; adjustments to ramps and deck section; design of restraints and ballast; review of the erection procedure; and technical assistance during fabrication and on site.
